Counselling
Counselling with me aims to help you access the knowledge and awareness of what you want and need in your life. It often takes outside help to find those things out - they can get covered up and silenced over the years, as we try to fit in with ours and others' expectations of us (family, school, church, friends, partners, society...) and then they become difficult to rediscover. However, we need to rediscover them, if we want to lead an authentic life, true to ourselves.
I work in a Person-Centred way, as an 'Integrative' counsellor. That means that my approach is to be led by you, that you will decide what you want to deal with and won't be forced by me to focus on anything you aren't ready for. It also means I have knowledge and experience of various counselling approaches and can call on different practices and ideas to suit your unique situation and needs.
As a counsellor, my role is to support you, to be honest, open and genuine with you, and perhaps to challenge you - counselling and talking therapy isn't necessarily an easy option. I will listen, reflect, offer my perspective and encouragement, to help you decide what to focus on and how to find your own resources for coping.
My fees are £40 per session, which lasts 50 minutes.
I can offer a reduced rate for students.
